Before You Begin: Getting Ready for HunterSMART™

Before installing your HunterSMART™ devices, make sure you have everything you need for setup.

Download the HunterSMART™ app. Find it in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Check your Wi-Fi connection. A Wi-Fi connection is required for setup through the HunterSMART™ app.
Have your pairing QR code ready. Each device includes a QR code used during the pairing process.
Choose your smart home platform. HunterSMART™ devices support Matter, allowing compatible devices to work with platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. A compatible Matter controller may be required depending on the product and setup.
Review your installation instructions. For hardwired devices, turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning. If you're unfamiliar with electrical wiring, consult a qualified electrician.

How to Install and Pair the HunterSMART™ Smart Plug

The HunterSMART™ Smart Plug turns everyday corded devices into connected smart home essentials. Use it with compatible lamps, fans, and other devices to add app control, schedules, and voice commands without replacing what you already own.

Step 1: Plug In Your Smart Plug

Insert the HunterSMART™ Smart Plug into an indoor electrical outlet.

Step 2: Activate Pairing Mode

Press and hold the power button for up to 10 seconds until the indicator light blinks blue. This signals that the Smart Plug is ready to pair.

Step 3: Open the HunterSMART™ App

Open the HunterSMART™ app on your smartphone.

Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner and select Plug from the available device types.

Step 4: Scan the Pairing QR Code

When prompted, scan the QR code located on the bottom of the Smart Plug. An additional QR code label is included for convenience.

Follow the remaining instructions in the app to complete pairing.

Step 5: Confirm Your Connection

Once connected, the Smart Plug's indicator light will turn solid blue.

You can now use your connected smart home platform to control compatible devices, create schedules, and set up automations.

How to Install and Pair the HunterSMART™ Dimmer Switch

The HunterSMART™ Dimmer Switch brings connected control to compatible existing light fixtures. Adjust brightness, turn lights on or off, and create lighting routines through your smart home platform.

Before installing: The Dimmer Switch requires compatible dimmable bulbs, a suitable wall box, and the required wiring connections. The connected lighting load must not exceed 200W. Review the instruction manual before beginning.

Step 1: Turn Off Power and Remove the Existing Switch

Turn off power at the circuit breaker.

Remove the existing wall plate and switch, then carefully pull the wires forward. Take a photo of the existing wiring before disconnecting anything.

Step 2: Connect the Dimmer Switch

For a standard single-switch installation, follow the wiring diagram in the instruction manual.

The manual identifies these connections:

Green or bare copper: Ground
Red: Live Out
White: Neutral
Black: Live In
Blue: Load 2, capped for a single-switch installation

Secure each connection according to the manual and applicable electrical codes.

Installing in a 3-way switch configuration? The HunterSMART™ Dimmer Switch supports compatible 3-way installations, but the wiring differs. Refer to the instruction manual for the appropriate configuration.

Step 3: Secure the Switch and Install the Wall Plate

Carefully position the connected wires inside the electrical box.

Use the included hardware to secure the Dimmer Switch, then snap the decorative wall plate into place.

Step 4: Restore Power

Turn power back on at the circuit breaker.

The Dimmer Switch's connection indicator should flash white when it is powered on and ready to connect.

Step 5: Pair With HunterSMART™

Open the HunterSMART™ app and select Add Device.

Follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, scan the QR code displayed on the Dimmer Switch to complete pairing.

A solid white indicator light confirms the device is connected.

Once paired, you can adjust compatible lighting through the app and your connected smart home platform.

How to Install and Pair the HunterSMART™ Wall Panel

The HunterSMART™ Wall Panel brings compatible lights, ceiling fans, and smart home devices together on one touchscreen. With built-in Alexa and Matter connectivity, it gives you a central place to manage connected comfort throughout your home.

The Wall Panel can replace an existing single- or dual-gang wall switch configuration, depending on the installation.

Step 1: Turn Off Power and Remove the Existing Switch

Turn off power at the circuit breaker.

Remove the existing wall plate and switch or switches.

Before disconnecting the wiring, take a photo of the existing connections for reference.

Step 2: Prepare the Wiring

Carefully pull the wires forward and identify the Live (L), Neutral (N), and Ground (G) connections.

Straighten the wire ends and strip approximately 10 mm of insulation if needed, following the manual.

Important: A neutral wire is required. If your wall box does not have one, contact a licensed electrician.

Step 3: Connect the Wall Panel

Separate the Wall Panel touchscreen from its power supply.

Following the installation diagram:

Connect the Live (L) terminal to the house Live wire.
Connect the Neutral (N) terminal to the house Neutral wire.
Connect Load 1 and/or Load 2 if you're controlling compatible wired devices.
Connect an Ethernet cable if desired.
Tighten all terminals securely.

Step 4: Secure the Wall Panel

Position the power supply with its directional arrow pointing upward toward the ceiling.

Secure it using the included screws, taking care not to overtighten.

Then attach the touchscreen evenly across the front of the power supply.

Turn power back on at the circuit breaker.

The Wall Panel will illuminate and begin initializing.

Step 6: Connect to HunterSMART™

Open the HunterSMART™ app and select Add Device.

Follow the on-screen prompts and scan the QR code displayed on the Wall Panel when prompted.

After pairing, you can begin adding and organizing compatible smart home devices, setting up scenes, and managing connected controls from the touchscreen.

If your HunterSMART™ device isn't connecting, start with a few common checks.

Check Your Wi-Fi Connection

Make sure your Wi-Fi network is available and that your device has a reliable connection during setup. If the signal is weak, consider moving your router closer to the device.
