Cathedral Ceiling Fans Provide Powerful, Elevated Comfort

When it comes to airflow in rooms with tall, pitched, or angled ceilings, a cathedral ceiling fan makes all the difference. Designed to perform efficiently in open, airy spaces, ceiling fans for vaulted ceilings help circulate air where it naturally rises - near the ceiling - and bring comfort down to where you need it most.

A vaulted ceiling fan uses a longer downrod to lower the fan to an ideal height, improving airflow and balancing temperatures year-round. Whether you’re adding a fan to your great room, master suite, or entryway, our cathedral ceiling fans offer the quiet performance, elevated design, and easy control that sets Hunter apart. We have a variety of options, from smart fans to remote control fans. We're sure you'll find something that fits your style and your space.

For added convenience, many of our cathedral ceiling fan models are available with remote controls, allowing you to adjust speed or lighting from the comfort of your seat.

Designed for Vaulted and Angled Ceilings

Not all ceiling fans are built the same, especially when you’re working with sloped or vaulted ceilings. Hunter offers a variety of 3 blade ceiling fans, adaptable mounting kits, and downrod lengths that make installation safe and efficient.

If your ceiling sits higher than the standard eight or nine feet, the right downrod becomes an important part of the installation. Hunter offers downrods in several lengths so you can position the fan where the airflow reaches the room, rather than keeping it near the ceiling. You can browse compatible downrods and other ceiling fan accessories through our parts and accessories section when planning a vaulted ceiling setup.

Our sloped ceiling adapters are built to work with cathedral and vaulted ceilings, ensuring the fan hangs at the correct angle and height. If your ceiling is sloped, you will usually need a sloped ceiling adapter so the fan hangs straight. Hunter carries the mounting kits and downrods designed for angled ceiling installations. You can find these accessories in Hunter’s ceiling fan parts and accessories section when planning your installation. These features not only improve how the fan performs but also help it stay looking great and structurally sound for years to come. Combine that with Hunter’s WhisperWind® motor technology and you’ll get strong, quiet airflow without wobble or noise.

Styles That Complement Your Space

Whether your ceiling soars 12 feet high or more, your fan should feel like a natural part of your décor. Hunter makes it incredibly easy to choose a style of cathedral ceiling fans that fit into the space that you need.

Browse farmhouse fans for a rustic or traditional look, or try one of our more minimalist designs for modern spaces. With LED lighting, remote control compatibility, and reversible blade functionality, Hunter cathedral ceiling fans blend performance and aesthetic in every detail.

Shop Smart for Your Space

When sizing a ceiling fan for cathedral ceiling installations, consider both the height of your ceiling and the square footage of your room. A taller ceiling often requires a longer downrod, which helps your fan function at its best. If your space is on the smaller side, shop our collection of small ceiling fans to find models that pack power into a more compact design.

And if you’re hunting for value, our ceiling fan sale page includes select cathedral ceiling fan styles at special prices, giving you more flexibility without compromising on quality.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CATHEDRAL CEILING FANS

What makes a ceiling fan suitable for a vaulted or cathedral ceiling?

A cathedral ceiling fan or vaulted ceiling fan needs a few extra features to work well in rooms with tall or angled ceilings. Most importantly, it should include a longer downrod to bring the fan closer to your living space. It also needs to work with a sloped ceiling mount so it hangs properly. Together, these features help the fan move air more effectively and stay securely in place, even in rooms with high or steep ceilings.

Can I install a ceiling fan on an angled ceiling?

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan on an angled ceiling, and Hunter makes it easy to do so. Many of our fans come with mounting systems that work with sloped ceilings right out of the box. If your ceiling has a steeper pitch, you can use one of our sloped ceiling adapters to get the right fit. Just be sure to check your ceiling angle and match it with the mounting hardware for safe and proper installation.

What types of mounting kits do I need when installing a fan on an angled ceiling?

Installing a ceiling fan on an angled ceiling usually requires a sloped-ceiling mount or adapter to keep the fan hanging straight. Hunter offers mounting systems for cathedral and vaulted ceilings that adjust to the pitch of the ceiling. In steeper installations, pairing the adapter with the correct downrod helps bring the fan to the proper height for better airflow.

What downrod length should I use for my cathedral ceiling fan?

Downrod length depends on your ceiling height. For ceilings taller than 9 feet, you’ll typically need a downrod between 12 and 72 inches. Refer to Hunter’s installation guidelines for downrod recommendations based on ceiling height.

Do cathedral ceiling fans come with remotes?

Yes. Many of our cathedral ceiling fans include remote control functionality or are compatible with Hunter accessories. This lets you control speed and lighting without needing to reach for pull chains or wall switches.

Can I use a small fan on a high ceiling?

It’s best to match your fan size to the room dimensions. For large spaces with high ceilings, a larger fan with a longer downrod will circulate air more effectively. For smaller rooms with tall ceilings, look at our small ceiling fan options with extended downrod compatibility.

Do vaulted ceiling fans help lower energy bills?

They can. By improving airflow, vaulted ceiling fans help your heating and cooling systems run more efficiently. In the summer, set the fan to spin counterclockwise for a cooling breeze. In the winter, reverse the fan to push rising warm air back down into the room.

What styles are available for cathedral ceiling fans?

Our collection includes everything from wood-tone farmhouse ceiling fans to bold, modern 3-blade fans. You can filter by blade count, finish, lighting, control type, or even smart features to find a design that fits your space.

How do I take care of a ceiling fan on a vaulted ceiling?

Keeping your ceiling fan clean and running smoothly is easier than you might think, even on a vaulted ceiling. Use an extended-reach duster regularly to clear off dust from the blades and motor housing. For a deeper clean, make sure the power is off and use a sturdy ladder that safely reaches the fan. Hunter fans are built with durable finishes and sealed components, which help protect the fan and make cleaning less of a hassle over time. Do Hunter cathedral ceiling fans come with lighting?

Yes. Many of our fans include integrated LED lights or are compatible with optional light kits. You can choose dimmable models, multiple bulb options, or smart lighting compatibility depending on your preferences.
