We created the Hunter Original® with one goal in mind: Durability. There's a reason you hear people saying their Hunter Original has been hanging in their home or business for 20, 30, or even 40+ years.

Cast iron materials, known for durability, were commonly used pre-World War II. In the 1800s, an oil bath lubrication system was used on a multitude of products – including ceiling fan motor bearings – to keep machine parts running smooth and quietly. We've kept these materials true-to-form with the Original to this day, because the longevity is unmatched.

A legacy of innovation.

We've been innovating ceilings fans since our origins 135 years ago. The Original was one of our first electric ceiling fan designs in the early 1900s. Throughout the years, it became one of our first fans with the capability to reverse motor direction for the winter and to receive our SureSpeed® Guarantee.

With innovation at the forefront of our company, we've continued building on the Original's unparalleled design and engineering. We added fresh finishes and the option to install it with four or five blades. What's remained the same: its wobble-free, whisper-quiet operation.
