Determining what type of HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) system you have can be confusing. If you’ve read our FAQs and Glossary and you still need help, please contact our Technical Support team at 1-888-830-1326.
Raise levers
Raise all of the levers on the terminals you'll be using.  Heat Pump Installation labels are on the left of the terminal blocks on the mounting plate.  Conventional labels are on the right.
TIP  If one of the terminals you need has a white tab in front of it, use your finger to break the tab away. Only break tabs you know you’ll be usingso if you’re not sure, double-check your wiring configuration.
Insert wires into terminal blocks

Insert the bare end of each wire all the way into the terminal hole matching the wire label, then lower the lever. This locks each of the wires in place. Once the wires are locked, you can tuck excess wire back into the wall.

TIP  Don’t insert the wires into the holes at the top of the mounting block. The wires should be inserted into the front, close to the hole in the mounting plate.
