    All I needed was to replace an old rotary/mercury thermostat that gets turned up every time someone brushes their shoulder against it. I bought this one (#40120), installed it on a simple two-wire system, with fresh batteries, and it wouldn't turn on. I swapped out batteries with two others, but nothing. I switched the E/G switch on the back.., nothing. I removed it, re-installed the old thermostat, and guess what?! My furnace turns on! I spent about 20 minutes swapping out thermostats, and another 1/2 hour troubleshooting. I couldn't call the support number, because it was already after 5pm CST. I guess I'll bring it back to Lowe's in the morning and try out a Honeywell...

    Good price - works well.

    Only four stars - because the Fan control switch (just like other reviews) did not work. However, if you put a jumper across the Rh terminal and the one directly above it (which connects to Rc), the Fan control switch works as intended. Clearly something is amiss with either the instructions, or the factory, or the design itself. I would typically expect a factory installed jumper. I suspect though, that most people seldom run the fan - as I do normally - so they don't miss it. For the price - it remains a very good deal.

    We have radiant floor heating and no cooling or fans so we turn these units off when heat is not required from mid June thru early October. These units were installed Dec 2010 and turned off the units in June 2011. When we turned them on in Oct 2011, we had to replace all batteries. Turned them off again, June 2012 and just turned them on today, Oct 5, 2012. Had to replace batteries again. These are all brand new Duracell batteries. They use the batteries even when the units are turned off. Also agree with other reviewer who said they are difficult to read the room temperature and they are very inaccurate about when they come on. Do not recommend these.

    FAN SWITCH DOESN'T WORK

    My unit will not operate my fan just like LN from Utahs. I will be calling tech services first thing monday. It appears Hunter has a definate problem with this model which needs to be addressed.

    I purchased thermostat to replace a major brand , I am a HVAC contractor, I checked continuity of wires, two wire setup, ok. Installed two Duracell Pro akaline batteries. I made sure batteries were fresh ; put in used AA from my flashlight which triggered low battery signal a good function. However, the furnace did not come on with thermostat at 90 degrees. I will return this thermostat to the store and try a brand sold by ACE Hardware.

    mine was installed in march 2010 and have never trusted the thermostat since it's first winter. hard to read the room temperature and I would not recommend. am changing to another brand next week.

    Fan switch does not work.

    I have tried two units, the fan switch will not turn the fan on, on either one. The fan comes on when the red and green wire are touched together, so the system works fine up to and including the wiring. Talked with the help lady, who advised to change the Lithium batteries to alkaline batteries, and wouldn't offer any other suggestions if that didn't work. Well it didn't work so it looks like I will be shopping for another brand of thermostat...
