    yellowing globe - DO NOT BUY THIS FAN

    After using the fan for just under two years, the globe is yellow - very yellow. Called HUNTER and was told I am basically tough out of luck. $350 for a fan that is now horrible to look at, provides very little light because of the yellowing, and I cannot even BUY a new globe. Hunter doesn't have the globe because they are made overseas, and they don't carry the replacement PARTS.. DO NOT BUY THIS FAN. HUNTER WAS OF NO HELP.

    Extremely well designed

    I just installed a new Fanaway over our kitchen table and we are extremely happy with the functioning and design. The light is much brighter than what we had before over our table. Also those who are complaining about having to only use the remote are plain wrong. We have wall switches at two doors to the kitchen and they still work perfectly - you just need to turn off the light with the wall switch and not with the remote - and no special wiring was needed - just connected the wires from the old light fixture. The fan speeds are operated by the remote and there is a nice holder that you can screw over the wall switch or elsewhere for convenient storage - we put ours near the table. I have installed two ot

    Bulb people!

    MaxLite Circline Bulb, 55 Watt my goodness could none of you look up a replacement bulb..I just emailed BULB manufacturer and found a 55 watt in about 15 seconds. Great Fan no issues except all my friends stare in wonder at it..Nice.

    CLEANING BLADES

    Great Fan. had it for almost 2 years. Cleaning the blades is impossible. -With the fan in the off position and the blades folded you cannot clean dust from the blades.

    great fan, crappy light source

    I ignored all of your reviews and now sorry. This fan is great looking, and wish there were more models. But, why on earth would a lighting company make a ceiling fan that generates not even enough light to read by. I strongly suggest Hunter read the reviews both here and at amazon.com and develop a replacement bulb that will shine enough light to brighten a room.

    Light is not bright enough!!

    I thought I checked out this fan extensively before I made my purchase, (its not inexpensive) I was worng! I installed it in my kitchen, the old round CFL fixture it replaced had only 2 bulbs in it, 1 40W and 1 25W and that was bright enough, so I though a NEW 40W bulb would be sufficent, but I was very wrong. I called customer service to ask if there was a brighter bulb, but was told "no" with no other statement or help. Don't buy this fixture unless you need a very expensive night light with a fan attached to it! Hunter should look into redisigning the lighting fixture with additional bulbs so you can work in your kitchen!!

    Great Fan!! Light working with a three way switch.

    I'm not sure why there are so many complaints about hard wiring this fan to a light switch? The light on my fan is now working on a 3 way switch and I am using the remote for the fan only. The fan is quiet and moves a good amount of air. I only wish the light was a little softer. Overall a great fan!

    light isn't bright enough

    the light isn't bright enough for a kitchen, only 40 watts. I spoke to customer service and they said that's all they have. The light is also very white and gives off a harsh light. I asked if they had a new bulb with soft white and they said no. They don't seem to care that you can't buy another bulb so I guess if the bulb goes out you are stuck with a very expensive fan with no purpose other than move air!!!!! I am returning it ASAP. NOTworth the money!!!!!!!!

    lighting on the fanaway

    The fan is beautiful and works well, however, the bulb inside is not bright enough and it gives a hard white look not a soft white. I tried to find replacement light but can't find it anywhere on the website or manual. How do you replace the bulb in the fan??????

    Still Waiting for Bulb

    We purchased our fan four months ago for our kitchen remodel. The light was disappointing but we knew the bulb was only a 40 watt. After about six weeks the bulb went out. I tried to locate a bulb for replacement but to my suprise they cannot be purchased anywhere. After contacting Hunter they tell me that the bulb is exclusive to Hunter and they cannot be purchased elsewhere. They said they will send me a new one. That was six weeks ago and I am still in the dark. I am totally discussed with this fan. Why would a manufacturer sell a light fixture with bulb that can't be purchased easily. Bulbs do burn out but this one only lasted six weeks. My light has been broken longer than it worked!

    Wiring not good, can't use wall switch

    You can't turn on this light with a regular wall switch. It can't even be hard wired to work. One must use the remote always. This is a serious design flaw and quite frankly stupid. I have already bought this so, I'm stuck with it. I hope someone will read this and not be stuck with such a poor design.

    Blades start to scrape each other when they open ip

    I installed it myself and everything worked great on day 1. On day 2 the blades are now scraping each other when I start the fan. Anyone else experience this or know what the fix is? Don't get me wrong I still like the fan the motor is pretty much silent. it's just silly to have a silent motor and this annoying scraping sound.

    I read reviews before I bought this fan, but decided to try it anyway. They were right. The light is a circular florescent and is a disturbing bright white. Not a warm inviting light in my bedroom and you can not change it either. I could deal with that but the noise from the motor I could not deal with, plus there is a wah-wah, buffetting sound that bothers my and my husbands ears. After 6 months of not using the fan we are sending it back. Thankfully Hunter will exchange it for something else. Although not the same price point. Oh well, you can't have it all. Great design, innovative, but needs some tweeking. I'll look forward to future models.

    Replace a bulb

    Have been happey with Fan untill the bulb blew. Seems I can not find one have two on order have been with out light for over two weeks Need help on this

    Design Concern

    I just installed this fan and love the way it looks, however, it does not work well with 3-way or 4-way switch wiring. We put this on a 4-way set up and can't use the switches to turn the light on and off. If this information had been available prior to purchase, I wouldn't have bought it. Thought the fan was defective at first until I realized the light and fan can only be turned on with the remote. If the circuit is open, the remote does nothing. Would have been nice to know this before shelling out the premium cost for this fan.

    What noise. Maybe the person that istalled it did not install it correctly. I do not hear a sound when I turn my fan on. maybe you need to call the installer

    Love this fan My wife was right in picking this one.

    I can not say enough about this fan. It was so easy to install and it is so quiet and when the blades retrack they do not make a sound. It is so modern and looks great. Also the light on some ceiling fans does not give enough light but on this fanaway there is plenty of light. I would highly recommend this fan.

    I have spent a month looking for a fricking light bulb!!!!!!!!

    OMG------please do not buy this fan until I find a bulb and let you know what hoops I have to jump thru to get it. So far---I've contacted every hardware store and lighting company in this city with NO SUCCESS. My next call is to Hunter Sat am and I'll see what this gets me.

    Nice, but...

    Love the look and functionality of the retractable blades. Previous users commented it's remote only operation. I contacted Hunter Support and they said that WE CONSUMERS prefer remote only operation. What a crock, what about giving us a choice? I wound up bypassing the remote and hard wired the fan for my three-way switches and I connected the fan wire to a hot so that I can operate the fan using the remote, without the light being on. What gets me is there is no reverse switch for summer/winter operation. It's centrifugal force that extends the blades, so clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation makes no difference. Guess I should have waited for version 2.

    This fan is a work of art and a great conversation peice. The only thing I did not like was the fact that I could not use the light switch. Let the engineers know to fix that (It is called enhancement) LOL Again, LOVE IT!!!!

    I love the way it looks, however i do not like the way it works. We installed this in our kitchen, which has 2 light switches. You can only use the remote to turn this fan/light on and off, you can't use the switches. There is a handy little remote holder that you can screw on over one of the light swtiches. This puts the remote where you need it and covers the switch so you dont accidentally turn it off. But then you can only turn the light on from one side of the room. You can purchse an additional remote for $30, but i already spent over $350 on the fan. Seems like a poor design to me.

    Operation of Fanaway

    The installations was easy. The remote works great; however we are very disappointed with the noise of the blades closing when the fan is shut off. The blades have two definite slapping sounds while closing. A very disturbing sound. For the cost of this fanaway it should be silent when closing. The motor also has a hum that our other fans in the house do not. For the price of this fan. I am disappointed.
