Monday, Apple introduced the Home app, an extension of the HomeKit program, that enables control of some of our newest ceiling fans compatible with the free home automation app available in Apple’s new operating system.

Apple’s Home app allows HomeKit devices including lights, thermostats, garage doors and, yes, your ceiling fans, to be managed and controlled from your Apple devices through one easy-to-use control panel. It also lets users set scenes like “I’m home” or “good morning.”

Hunter’s Symphony and Signal feature Wi-Fi and Apple HomeKit technologies, allowing homeowners to effortlessly create a connected home through this app. Want your fan to turn on when you get home from work? You can program your fan’s schedule or activate geo-location in the Home app. Did you forget to turn off the fan when you left the house? No worries! You can turn your ceiling fan and light off and on right from your phone.

Hunter Fan began working on smart ceiling fans in late 2014 and unveiled the designs at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

“Hunter Fan Company has been working very closely with the team at Apple to deliver a fantastic user experience, and we’re thrilled to be part of the next evolution of HomeKit. We believe Apple’s technology leadership combined with our high-quality beautiful fans will prove to be a great combination for consumers looking to easily enter into the Smart Home,” said Jeremy Tarr, Director of Business Development for Hunter Fan.

The Symphony and Signal will be available for purchase in mid-Summer, just in time for iOS 10 and the Home 59224_rContemporary_Best_Large.jpgapp’s fall availability.

For those with Android phones, the Wi-Fi capabilities of the Symphony and Signal allow Android users to use the Hunter app to schedule and control the SIMPLEconnect fans.

Shameless plug: You may also recognize the Symphony from our collaboration with ELEVATE Design Collective. Hunter Fan teamed up with five other home fashion designers to design a New York loft during New York Design Week.
