DEAR JOHN: Is there a rule for how high to hang my artwork? – Janelle G., Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
DEAR JANELLE: Janelle, my dear, you ask a very intriguing question. There are differing opinions on this, but most interior designers will tell you that it’s best to ensure the artwork’s center (or midline) is at the average human eye level – about 57-60 inches from the floor. I would, however, not apply this same rule when hanging your ceiling fan. Unless, of course, you don’t mind frequent bumps on the head.
