Quality Engineer

The role of a Quality Engineer is to plan and lead activities concerned with the quality planning and quality assurance of manufacturing process, materials and products. This responsibility includes being adept in APQP, Control Plans, Change Notice, CAR, DOE, FMEA, PPAP, SPC tools and be proficient in die-casting injection molding, metal fabrication, paint coating, and printed circuit board manufacturing.


  • Applies engineering disciplines to support design, development, implementation & operation activities.

    • Reviews, evaluates & analyzes designs.

    • Perform process capability studies.

    • Perform gage R&R studies control chart methods. Has previous exposure to Gage R&R, design of experiments, manufacturing process design & design of inspection & test systems.

    • Conduct FMEA & product design reviews for manufacturability & quality.

    • Knowledge of applied statistics, preferably statistical process control.

  • Communication skills must be assertive & willing to take the lead in all situations.

    • Must be willing to express the company requirements effectively with all parties in all situations such as project meetings, factory meetings & not need to be directed to do so.

    • Must be capable of training the subordinate staff, factory personnel & be viewed as a leader.

    • Must be aggressive, assertive, knowledgeable of the requirements & professional in communicating with all internal & external personnel.

  • Responsible for evaluating & improving the company's current process for product development & testing product quality.

    • Take the initiative to suggest new standards, implement new strategies, & take on special projects without being requested by management.

    • Recommend programs which have a direct impact on improving the organization quality which can be measured.

  • Participate in meetings, detailing the expected level of requirements, time required, & consistently meet the allocated milestones.

    • Participate in a team or be able to work individually on projects that are designed to improve the quality of products within their categories of responsibility.

    • Must have understanding of the company quality expectations, company objectives & be willing to make the necessary decisions weighing both necessities.

  • Translate customer requirements into process control, inspection & test criteria.

    • Prepares, reviews, & evaluates documentation, specifications, tests plans & procedures.

    • Conducts analysis of requirements, components & supports audits conducted to ensure intended functionality & performance is achieved.

  • Identify & draft inspection, test criteria, standards & qualification requirements.

    • Develop testing plans & testing scenarios in accordance with the functional requirements & analyzes testing

    • Tests designs, specifications & documentation to validate effectiveness.

  • Identify, diagnose, report, & assist engineers & project managers in resolving issues.

    • Analyze warranty trends, defect phone log & make assessments & follow-up with actions which improve the product warranty.

  • Must be able to take the lead role in audits & process capability studies.

    • Assist SQE (HFA) on assessing manufacturing base by providing detailed assessments of manufacturers as it relates to HFC requirements, capabilities, processes, capacity constraints, management, logistics & vendor product knowledge/expertise.

    • Assess inspection/metrology & be capable of providing training to improve.

    • Capable of assisting in developing the supply base.

  • Accept responsibility for completeness & final quality of their work.


  • BS required in Technical discipline. MBA preferred

  • ASQ certification a plus

  • Lean manufacturing experience and six sigma background


  • Highly organized with strong on time management and meeting deadline skills

  • Good presentation skills, both verbal and written
