National Specification Manager

The National Specifications Manager’s role is to develop direct relationships, on behalf of the company, with National, Regional and Local Engineering firms to gain acceptance of our products as listed equals, to establish our products as basis of design and create market space by educating the engineering community on HVLS as alternative to current HVAC methods.


  • Calls on National, Regional and Local Engineering firms.
  • Develops direct relationships with these target firms.
  • Assists target firms with preparation of specifications, comparative interpretation of competitive specs.
  • Supports efforts of field sales team, as needed, to work with engineering firms on specific projects.
  • Schedules, coordinates and performs presentation to target firms to gain product acceptance and spec development.
  • Supports the VP of Sales and Marketing and RSMs in any way necessary to drive sales relative to engineering community interface.
  • Support in the development of brochures, tech manuals, and training course content as necessary
  • Compile, update and maintain “master list” of engineering firms, locations, areas of specificity and key contacts.
  • Compiles and maintains catalog of national specifications to be shared with sales team.
  • Coordinates efforts of local reps and distributors relative to their engineering community efforts.
  • Attends tradeshows as needed.
    • Expected to travel 50%+ of the time.
  • Number of formal “as equal” representations achieved.
  • Number of formal “basis of designs” achieved.
  • Number of competitor projects “converted”.
  • Number of national specifications written.


  • BS degree preferred (preferably engineering)
  • Minimum 2-years professional technical sales experience required.       


  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary with an ability to quickly develop relationships with all levels of engineering community.
  • The incumbent should possess an aggressive approach to all stages of follow-up with engineers and colleagues.
  • Strong administrative skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently are also required
  • Experience with Auto CAD and /or Revit preferred
