Channel Manager

Role encompasses Big Box Channels defined primarily as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, and Costco.  Big Box Channel and Customer P&L responsibility. Execute Big Box Channel strategy within overall company strategic roadmap.  Drive Big Box Channel growth.  Assist Specialty Channel as needed.

Description

  • Develop and execute overall Big Box Channel strategy in alignment with overall company strategic roadmap
  • Drive sales with all Big Box Channel partners to achieve top-line and bottom-line goals
  • Coordinate with Sales, Finance, Brand, and Product to develop annual promotional calendar to maximize revenue (both in-store & online)
  • Implement processes and best practices to ensure alignment with evolving channel partners’ requirements
  • Improve profitability of Big Box Channel
  • Manage pricing, product, and promotion across Big Box Channels to avoid cross-customer conflicts and maximize profits
  • Assist with E&O process when Big Box products are involved
  • Develop relationship with Sales team for each of Big Box accounts to understand their accounts’ key initiatives, metrics of success, and programming requirements
  • Prepare analytical reports to share key business insights
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of sell through and how it is impacted by promotional activities & different merchandising, what drives the highest ROI, competitive activities, etc.
  • Lead Big Box Pod efforts to ensure:
    • Needs of the Big Box Channel are being met
    • The resources to execute on Big Box Channel Strategy are budgeted (Design, Engineering, Product, etc)
    • Work with Category Manager to understand sell through & pass this knowledge (success & failures) on to product & design to guide future development
  • Have in-depth knowledge of Big Box Channel, the competitive landscape (inclusive of feature sets), and what is needed to “win” at each account
  • Assist Brand to ensure proper product content is developed and shared with channel partners
  • Develop and implement new product launch plans when necessary (with assistance from Brand Marketing)
Specialty Channel Related Tasks
  • Assist Sales Operations role when necessary
  • Contribute when needed to Phase In / Phase Out Process

Experience

  • Good presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with sales teams & customers
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams to accomplish key goals
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills and history for and meeting deadline
  • Strong business acumen
  • Moderate travel required (up to 20%)

Requirements

  • BA required. MBA & related Big Box experience preferred
  • Prior B2B or B2C experience developing long-term strategies preferred
