Poorly designed with terrible customer service
I purchased 2 of these fans in early September and tried installing them at the end of September. Others have commented on the difficulty of installing the fan blades and I agree with them. Some have also commented on the perverse sizing of the wiring cover which makes installing the light kit extremely difficult, I also agree with them. In fact, I tried discussing the issue with their customer support people, was asked to send pictures of the installation area with a promise of a call back to assist in how to get the wiring to fit. 2 months later I am still waiting on that call. Had to hire an electrician to get the fans installed.
Now we are also disappointed with the level of light coming from the CFL light bulb and have not been able to find a solution since the bulb is a 2 pin bulb with no extra room under the light dome to install a brighter bulb.
If you are considering hte purchase of this fan due to how attractive it is I highly recommend looking for an alternative.

Hunter Sonic Ceiling Fan, 52 Inch, Brushed Nickel
Agree with others installation was a bit more difficult than other ceiling fans I've installed in the past. It was up and working great until 2 weeks ago and now the light will not fully turn on. It flickers and hums. I have now bought 3 different bulbs in an attempt to once again have light in my bedroom... Anyone know what the issue maybe?

So many irritating details
I bought this fan to replace a smaller Hunter fan I'd had for years, in order to get more air movement. It's a good-looking fan and appears to be solidly made. It runs quietly - all good points.
The downsides, though, are pretty big: there are a bunch of really terrible design and installation issues. 1) The remote receiver IS NOT INTEGRATED. It doesn't fit within the fan, and has to be shoved up into the ceiling during installation. That wasn't possible in my case, so I was just going to give up on that function, until I discovered that 2) If you don't use the remote and your wiring isn't set for two functions on one switch (which is a common situation), YOU CAN'T OPERATE THE FAN AND LIGHT SEPARATELY WITHOUT THE REMOTE. So to recap on those two things: 1) the remote receiver is a large black thing that has to be wired to the fan itself and doesn't fit within the fan. 2) you cannot decide not to use it unless your switch is wired with two wires. Total, total fail in my book. Because I can't access above the ceiling in that room without opening the ceiling up, and because I don't want to have the light on whenever I have the fan on, I ended up with a large (6"x3"x1.5"?) black box mounted on my ceiling next to the fan, in full view.
Other issues - the rubber gaskets on the blade attachments, inside the fan, pop out of place when you try to slide the blades in. We had to coat them with oil using a q-tip to get the blades in properly, and even then it was difficult. The wiring that goes under the lighting base is perversely sized and makes attaching the simple base a nightmare. Seriously, just resize the "well" in there or rethink the wiring length and that headache would be gone.
All in all, the cheap shortcuts and thoughtless decisions behind the design of this fan made installation a nightmare.

poor customer service for parts
I bought this fan and it worked great for 10 months. When the receiver for the remote broke, i was informed without a receipt it would be $50 for the part. Hunter does not really stand behind their products if they expect you to keep a receipt in order to replace faulty parts! I would not recommend doing business with Hunter.

Not so good
I have 4 Hunter ceiling fans in my house, and love them all.
This time I decided to add a fan in my livingroom, and after some search, I bought the sonic ceiling fan, because the design is more modern, and supposedly more silent.
I was totally disappointed with the performance of this fan. The speed is very slow, even on the maximum speed, and it doesn,t cool as much as the other ones. By innovating the design, Hunter lost in quality. Too bad.. If I have a chance, in the future, I will replace it , for sure.
